DSA’s Online Glossary
Arlington, VA (December 12, 2014) – The Document Security Alliance (DSA) is an organization made up of government agencies, private industry and academia whose goal is to identify methods of improving security documents and related procedures to help combat the growing acts of fraud, terrorism, illegal immigration, identity theft, and other criminal acts.
In order to help members stay informed on the latest technologies, DSA produces a Glossary containing descriptions, photos, features, tradenames, and related technologies. Previously the Glossary has been distributed as a Word document and an Excel spreadsheet.
DSA worked with NeverLand to update the Glossary and bring it online. NeverLand created a custom template which allows viewing the Glossary on any device from desktops to mobile devices. A custom search feature makes it easy to find specific technologies by keyword, tradename, etc.
Since you can’t always be online, even with a mobile device, NeverLand also created a PDF version of the Glossary. The PDF version is generated directly from the online version using a custom system that layouts out a “book” using TeX and then converts that to a PDF. When a member downloads the PDF, it is keyed to them in a number of different ways, recorded in an online database, and encrypted.
To help maintain the Glossary, rather than being a once a year effort, NeverLand created an administration console allowing the Glossary to be updated in a continuous manner by any authorized editor; the PDF version is automatically re-generated when changes are made to the online version.
